Mary Robinson, a former president of Ireland, UN commissioner for human rights and UN climate envoy backed African countries to be allowed to expand and exploit their gas reserves for development purposes, as there are around 600 million people lacking access to power and 900 million cooking on biomass. While other voices advocate investing into distributed renewable energy systems.

Egypt’s Ministry of Environment and Al-Azhar signed a cooperation protocol to increase environmental awareness among the various segments of society and improve behavior towards the environment. As well as efforts to turn Al Azhar’s buildings and facilities eco-friendlier by reducing energy and water consumption rates.
وقعت وزارة البيئة والأزهر في مصر بروتوكول تعاون لزيادة الوعي البيئي بين مختلف شرائح المجتمع وتحسين السلوك تجاه البيئة. وكذلك جعل مباني الأزهر ومرافقه أكثر صداقة للبيئة من خلال تقليل معدلات استهلاك الطاقة والمياه.

Egyptian officials signed the Sharm Green City Project agreement in a ceremony attended by Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad and South Sinai Gov. Khaled Fouda. Egypt’s Environment Affairs Agency will implement the GEF-funded project in partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
وقع مسؤولون مصريون اتفاقية مشروع مدينة شرم الخضراء في حفل حضرته وزيرة البيئة ياسمين فؤاد ومحافظ جنوب سيناء خالد فودة. ستقوم وكالة شئون البيئة المصرية بتنفيذ المشروع الممول من مرفق البيئة العالمية بالشراكة مع برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي.

The two ministries reviewed their cooperation ahead of the participation in the Climate Conference that Egypt will host next November, in which the country will share its experience in integrating modern environmental concepts into the Egyptian education system. The Ministry of Education will work to produce a training package that includes a number of environmental concepts, which revolve around three Key themes: environmental sustainability, climate change, and biodiversity. And a number of activities that can be implemented at the school level.
تناول الاجتماع استعراض سبل التعاون بين الوزارتين للمشاركة في مؤتمر المناخ الذي ستستضيفه مصر في نوفمبر المقبل، حيث ستتبادل الدولة تجربتها في دمج المفاهيم البيئية الحديثة في نظام التعليم المصري. ستعمل وزارة التربية والتعليم على إنتاج حزمة تدريبية تتضمن عددًا من المفاهيم البيئية، والتي تدور حول ثلاثة محاور رئيسية: الاستدامة البيئية، والتغير المناخي، والتنوع البيولوجي. وعدد من الأنشطة التي يمكن تنفيذها على مستوى المدرسة

In a Virtual Meeting for the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate Held by President Biden of US, President Sisi and President Biden announced that Egypt and the US will partner on Adaptation in Africa, including at COP 27, focusing on tangible actions to improve people’s lives and build resilience to a changing climate.
أعلن الرئيس السيسي والرئيس بايدن، في اجتماع افتراضي لمنتدى الاقتصادات الكبرى حول الطاقة والمناخ، عقده الرئيس الأمريكي بايدن، أن مصر والولايات المتحدة ستشتركان في أهداف التكيف في إفريقيا، بما في ذلك مؤتمر المناخ مع التركيز على الإجراءات الملموسة لتحقيق أهداف تحسين سبل عيش الناس وبناء القدرة على الصمود في وجه تغير المناخ

Dr Mahmoud Mohieldin last Tuesday in the Africa CEO Forum held in Abidjan, Côte D’Ivoire says that Key African Climate Initiatives will be announced in this year’s Egypt COP27, pointing out that Africa needs a just and pragmatic transition balancing historically low emissions with development aspirations, while ensuring realistic reduction of emissions.
قال الدكتور محمود محيي الدين الثلاثاء الماضي في منتدى الرؤساء التنفيذيين في إفريقيا المنعقد في أبيدجان، كوت ديفوار، إنه سيتم الإعلان عن مبادرات مناخية أفريقية جديدة في مؤتمر المناخ COP27 في مصر هذا العام، مشيرًا إلى أن إفريقيا بحاجة إلى انتقال عادل وعملي يوازن الانبعاثات المنخفضة تاريخيًا مع تطلعات التنمية، مع ضمان خفض واقعي للانبعاثات.
