Egypt’s Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday that the delegations participating in the 27th session of the United Nations Conference on Climate change (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh in November will be exempted from taxes on entering the country.

CAIRO – 19 October 2022: UN Climate Change High Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, Mahmoud Mohieldin, said that it is necessary to put the results and outcomes of the international reports about the developed countries commitment to climate finance in consideration to push these countries toward fulfilling their pledges to finance climate action in the developing countries and emerging markets.

General Motors and Al Mansour will be providing 150 electric vehicles for transportation at the conference in Sharm El-Sheikh. Two of the leading automotive companies in Egypt, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to become the Exclusive Mobility Principal Partner for the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference COP27 that will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh from the 6th to the 18th of November 2022.

Facilitated by the Centre for Multilateral Negotiations (CEMUNE), the workshop discussed how COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh will engage with, and advance, the many climate and economic challenges that are currently underway. Along with the UNFCCC and COP27 Presidency members, also present offering their expertise were 14 speakers including COP20 President Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, COP26 Lead Negotiator Archie Young, Tomasz Chruszczow (former High Level Climate Champion for COP24), Dr Hakima El Haite (former High Level Climate Champion for COP22), and Kaveh Guilanpour (Former Co-lead Negotiator on Climate Change for the EU).
