The Youth Envoy is a role for conversing and consulting with both Egyptian and international youth organisations in improving management with the needs of young people across the globe. Dr Omnia El Omrani has been selected as the COP27 Youth Envoy, where she is to engage with the wider community to contribute to promoting the inclusion of global young voices.

Egypt to receive EUR 4 million grant to encourage environmental protection
مصر تحصل على منحة قدرها 4 ملايين يورو لتشجيع حماية البيئة
As part of third phase funding of the Environmental Pollution Abatement Project (EPAP), with a total budget of EUR 145 billion. EPAP is among the Ministry of Environment’s largest and most important initiatives that aim to foster sustainable development by subduing energy and resource consumption as well as strengthening industrial facilities’ performance.
كجزء من تمويل المرحلة الثالثة لمشروع الحد من التلوث البيئي (EPAP)، بميزانية إجمالية قدرها 145 مليار يورو. EPAP هي من بين أكبر وأهم مبادرات وزارة البيئة التي تهدف إلى تعزيز التنمية المستدامة من خلال تقليل استهلاك الطاقة والموارد وكذلك تعزيز أداء المنشآت الصناعية.

German institutions have been working closely with Egyptian partners on a range of projects to improve Egypt’s infrastructure and reduce the emissions of the greenhouse gases that lead to climate change. They have also been working with Egyptian schools and civil-society organisations to raise awareness of climate change and to educate the public about adaptation and mitigation measures.

Egypt recently inked a series of deals with energy firms based in India, Norway, Germany and the United Arab Emirates to set up green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with the foreign partners pledging to invest over 40 billion U.S. dollars in total by 2030.

Africa getting only 12% of climate finance needed for adaptation

Africa getting just 12% of the finance it needs to manage the impact of climate change, as per the Climate Policy Initiative recent report. According to the report, around $250 billion is needed annually to help African countries move to greener technologies and adapt to the effects of climate change, yet funding in 2020 was just $29.5 billion.
